Can I transfer current SEO value?

If I have a website www.abccompany.com domain name ranked for several keywords on top page on google, example "web design". Can I created 301 permanent redirect to transfer the current value to a new domain name for instance defcompany.com Will the search "web design" still appear my new domain name after few months?
